Question

Answer

How do I open UTasks?

Option 1. Open the bot chat and tap TASKS in the bottom left. You'll land on the mini app's home screen.

Option 2. Open any chat that has the bot and tap the TASKS button. You'll go directly to that project's task list. Tap BACK to reach the app's home screen.

Option 3.Tap a task title in any bot notification. The task opens directly. Tap BACK to return to the project task list, then BACK again to reach the home screen.

How do I turn a personal project into a group one?

You can't.

Create a Telegram group, add your team members and the UTasks bot. You can also move tasks from your personal project to a shared one

What is the difference between Date and Date Due?

A task has two similar date fields:DateandDeadline. Both are date-type fields and look alike — so what's the difference?

Date is the planned completion date. Both the author and assignees can change it.

Due date is the hard deadline by which the task must be done. Only the task author can set and change it.

Example: you assign Vasya the task "Paint the fence." The date is tomorrow; the due date is next Friday.

Vasya sees the task and gets to work. He doesn't finish in one day, so he moves the date forward — but he can still see the due date and will aim to meet it.

Vasya has several tasks, each with its own deadline. He decides when to schedule them (by adjusting the Date field) so he can hit every deadline on time.

On the day a deadline falls due, something useful happens: both the author and the assignee see a red badge next to their total task count in the TODAY block, showing how many tasks are due today. An extra nudge for both sides.

What is the difference between the PRO plan and the free plan?

The key difference: on PRO, you can be the author of tasks in an unlimited number of group projects.

On the free plan, you can author tasks in up to 2 shared projects — enough to get a feel for the app. If you need more, upgrade to PRO.

PRO also lets you assign tasks to multiple assignees at once, attach files, set deadlines, and group projects into areas.

If you only complete tasks rather than create them, the free plan is enough — you can be an assignee in an unlimited number of group projects on any plan.

Is the PRO plan payment charged automatically?

No, it isn't.

Recurring payments in Telegram Stars are not technically supported. Once your paid period ends, your account reverts to the free plan.

Does UTasks work in groups with topics?

NO.

Here's why:

No access to existing topics. When added to a group, the bot does not receive information about existing topics from the Telegram API.

Workarounds are unreliable. After joining a group, the bot can pick up newly created topics — but even if users recreate or clear topics, the creation event may not fire due to Telegram API bugs. This forces users to manually recreate topics, losing time and message history in the process.

Risk of losing tasks. In the worst case, the bot can lose its connection to topics entirely, resulting in lost tasks that must be fixed by hand — at which point scaling becomes impossible.

Groups with topics are insufficiently supported by the Telegram API and do not provide the reliability needed for task management.

This is practically the only case where Telegram's own tooling falls short of what we need. We hope they improve their API so we can deliver a quality experience in these groups too.

How do I buy a PRO plan with Telegram Stars?

Under Telegram's policy, all digital goods and services within the ecosystem are sold exclusively for Telegram Stars.

Telegram Stars is Telegram's in-app currency. There are three ways to pay:

  1. Buy the PRO plan directly from the UTasks app. Even if your Stars balance is zero, Stars will be purchased and applied to the subscription in one step — just like a regular purchase on the App Store or Google Play, charged to the payment method linked to your Apple or Google account.

  2. Buy Stars in advance via @PremiumBot and use them to pay for PRO in the UTasks bot.

  3. Buy Stars in advance on the Fragment auction platform and use them to pay for PRO in the UTasks bot.

The same process applies when purchasing a team PRO plan.

How are profile notification settings related to per-project notification settings?

UTasks has two separate notification settings — one for the Inbox project and one for group projects. Don't mix them up.

To configure notifications for the Inbox, go to your User profile → Settings → Personal notifications.

To configure notifications for a group project, tap the ⚙ gear icon next to the project name →Project settings → Chat notificationsorPersonal notifications.
